FHRAI told its members that hotels may explore Aadhaar App-based offline verification, and UIDAI recognises the credential as valid proof of identity. If your hotel wants to go ahead, work through these points first.
Registration
- Which routes will you offer, and which of them need an OVSE registration?
- Who registers: the hotel, the technology provider, or both? Ask UIDAI and your provider, in writing.
- Does each property in a group need its own registration?
Duties under the terms
- How will each guest be told whether the check succeeded or failed?
- Where will your grievance contact be shown, and who answers it?
- How will you keep verification logs and answer a guest who asks for their record?
Data
- What exactly do you keep, and for how long after check-out?
- Who on your staff can see the guest's photo and details, and is each look recorded?
People and fallbacks
- What will staff do for a guest with no card, an older card, or no smartphone, and for foreign guests?
- Who will train the front desk, and will someone still compare the photo with the guest?
Keep your existing duties
Verification does not replace a hotel's other obligations, such as its guest register and reporting to the police or authorities where required (for example Form C for foreign guests). Check them with your lawyer.

This article explains public information in plain words, as of 18 October 2026. It is not legal advice and rules can change. CheckInKYC is operated by SWASTIK ENTERPRISES, a UIDAI-registered OVSE (No. OR11274063); nothing here says UIDAI endorses or certifies any hotel or product.
