Paperless check-in for guest houses, lodges and homestays: a simple setup

19 October 2026 · 4 min read

If you run a guest house, lodge, dharamshala or homestay, you may think digital check-in is only for big hotels. It is not. The main pieces are a phone and a QR code.

What does a small property need?

  • A smartphone or tablet for whoever receives guests.
  • A QR code, shown on the screen or printed and placed at the desk.
  • A guest-registration tool that checks identity with consent.
  • An internet connection, which most phones already have.

How do guests check in?

The guest scans your QR code with their own phone, accepts a short notice and verifies with their Aadhaar or another ID. You see the result on your phone and confirm. No forms, no photocopier.

What if I am not at the desk?

A permanent self check-in QR can stay at the entrance. Guests scan it and start their own check-in, which then appears on your list for you to attach to the booking and confirm when you arrive.

Is it hard to learn?

Most owners and staff learn it in a short session. Set-up asks for your hotel's address, contacts and a privacy contact, and fills in what you already told us when you asked for a trial.

What about cost?

There is a 15-day free trial so you can test on real guests before paying. See the pricing section on our home page for the plans.

Your other duties, such as the guest register and any police reporting that applies to you, stay with you. Check them with your lawyer or local authorities.
