OVSE registration for hotels: what to prepare before you apply

19 October 2026 · 5 min read

OVSE stands for Offline Verification Seeking Entity. UIDAI runs a portal at ovse.uidai.gov.in where businesses register. This article explains what to think about before you apply. It is a preparation guide, not UIDAI's official checklist: always follow the portal.

Who needs to register?

  • For Aadhaar Paperless Offline e-KYC and Aadhaar Verifiable Credential verification, registration is required under the 2025 amendment to the Aadhaar (Authentication and Offline Verification) Regulations.
  • For a Secure QR code or e-Aadhaar document, the OVSE Handbook describes the check as limited to document authenticity and display, and says registration is not mandatory for that.

Should the hotel or the technology provider register?

This is a point to confirm with UIDAI in writing. The OVSE terms deal with sub-contracting, and whether one registered provider may serve many hotels is not settled in the papers we have read. Ask before you rely on either answer.

What to have ready

The portal will tell you exactly what it needs. From our own preparation, businesses typically gather documents like these:

  • Business registration papers, such as a GST certificate for a registered business.
  • The PAN of the business and identity and address proof of the owner or proprietor.
  • A named contact person and an official email and mobile number.
  • A clear description of how you will verify guests, what you collect and how long you keep it.
  • A grievance contact that guests can write to.

What registration involves after approval

The terms include duties such as telling the person whether each verification succeeded or failed, showing how to complain, and keeping verification logs. Plan your process around these from the start.

The easier path for many hotels

A hotel that works with a technology provider that is itself a UIDAI-registered OVSE can start with a signed-QR check-in without building its own application. CheckInKYC is operated by SWASTIK ENTERPRISES, a UIDAI-registered OVSE (No. OR11274063).
